Primary
Purpose:
Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under supervision of certified teacher.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
* High school diploma or GED
* 48 accredited college hours or Texas approved state paraprofessional training
* Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
* Ability to work well with children
* Ability to communicate effectively
Experience:
* Some experience working with children

Responsibilities and Duties:
General
* Demonstrates thoroughness, reliability and a high degree of accuracy in performing work assignments.
* Works cooperatively with others and maintains a positive attitude in the work environment.
* Demonstrates initiative and good judgment in problem solving and decision- making.
* Reports promptly and maintains good attendance.
* Uses time productively on the job.
* Follows district policies, rules and regulations
* Accepts supervisory direction.
* Strives to improve job skills.
* Demonstrates tact, courtesy and helpfulness in dealing with staff, students, parents, and visitors in the district.
Instructional
* Assists teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom display.
* Assists with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
* Helps maintain neat and orderly gym.
* Helps with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
* Helps teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
* Provides orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Student Management
* Conducts instructional exercises assigned by the coach; work with individual students or small groups.
* Helps supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom to include lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
* Keeps teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
Other
* Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
* Participates in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
