Position Title: BTELC Teacher Caregiver
Position Status: Full-time, At-Will Hourly Employee
Assigned

Hours:

Monday – Friday, 8-hour shift as assigned by Director
Reports To: Director (and/or designees)

Job Summary

The BTELC Teacher Caregiver is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment for children in their care. This role involves delivering age-appropriate, developmentally sound instruction and fostering spiritual growth, while collaborating with fellow staff to maintain a positive, effective classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities Instructional Responsibilities:
  • Implement BTELC’s Christian Vision and Values in all teaching activities.

  • Develop and deliver lesson plans using Creative Curriculum, Frog Street, and Texas Rising Star guidelines. Ensure documentation of lesson preparation is submitted as required.

  • Foster an interactive learning environment through hands-on activities, discovery play, and STEAM-based approaches.

  • Assess each child’s development through ongoing observations and formal assessments.

  • Prepare a weekly home activity project for each child’s developmental level.

  • Ensure lesson plans reflect the learning needs of individual children, accommodating various learning styles.

  • Stay informed of best practices for early childhood education and maintain high Texas Rising Star certification standards.

Classroom Management:
  • Maintain a calm and respectful tone, modeling positive discipline and reinforcing the BTELC Vision.

  • Develop a classroom environment that promotes positive behaviors, supports social-emotional development, and fosters learning.

  • Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness, ensuring that materials and resources are accessible.

  • Adhere to the daily schedule and facilitate smooth transitions between activities.

  • Post classroom rules and visually display children’s work, updating classroom displays weekly.

Student Development:
  • Be a positive role model by supporting each child’s spiritual, social, emotional, and academic growth.

  • Conduct regular developmental assessments for each child and keep detailed records.

  • Promote a nurturing environment during meals, and model a family atmosphere through shared mealtimes and prayer.

  • Use positive reinforcement strategies to encourage good behavior and social skills.

Health and Safety:
  • Conduct health checks on children upon arrival and departure.

  • Administer medication as directed by parents and maintain accurate medical records.

  • Sanitize toys and classroom materials regularly, ensuring a clean and safe environment.

  • Participate in fire drills, severe weather drills, and lockdown procedures as part of BTELC’s safety protocols.

Professional Development and Communication:
  • Actively participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, including attending staff meetings and training sessions.

  • Maintain current certifications, including CPR, First Aid, and required child safety training.

  • Use Procare Engage software to manage attendance and communicate with parents.

  • Foster professional relationships with colleagues, parents, and community members, ensuring open lines of communication.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 18 years of age.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, Child Safety, and other required training.
