Primary Purpose:
The Elementary English Language Arts Reading (ELAR) Coordinator provides leadership through collaborative processes to formulate, develop, implement, and evaluate the English/Spanish Language Arts and Reading curriculum and content. The ELAR Coordinator provides instructional leadership and supports classroom teaching to promote positive change and commitment to engaged learning environments in order to positively impact student achievement. The ELAR Specialist ensures an aligned and articulated PreK-5 instructional environment.
Education and Certification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree / Master's degree preferred
- Valid Teacher Certi?cate (English Language Arts/Reading or Reading Specialist Certi?cation)
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience in English Language Arts or as a Reading Specialist
- Experience trainer for campus district language arts and/or reading initiatives (preferred)
- Campus leadership experience (preferred)
- Working knowledge of curriculum design and instruction
- ELA/SLA or Biliteracy
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching e?ectiveness
- Experience and expertise in the implementation of di?erentiated and collaborative teaching structures
- Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
