Lecturer, Department of Psychology – College for Health, Community and Policy

Position Summary

Part‑time Lecturer position to teach Introduction to Psychology at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality instruction during the fall semester, preparing courses, teaching, assessing student learning, and communicating with students in a face‑to‑face setting.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the class and deliver instruction for Introduction to Psychology.
  • Assess student learning and provide timely feedback.
  • Communicate with students and maintain current records using course management systems.
  • Adhere to departmental and university policies on teaching, assessment, and academic integrity.
  • Work primarily at the downtown campus, with occasional support on the main campus (e.g., onboarding, meetings).
  • Maintain cybersecurity profile and confidentiality requirements of the university.
Qualifications
  • M.S./M.A. in Psychology or a Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely‑related discipline.
  • Previous experience teaching at least one of the following: introductory psychology, social psychology, biopsychology, developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, cognitive psychology, experimental psychology, or statistics.
  • Knowledge of computer programs and platforms:
    Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), statistical software (SPSS, JASP, R, MPLUS), and online classroom software (Zoom, Canvas, Blackboard, Camtasia).
  • Prepared to teach primarily face‑to‑face at the downtown campus, and flexible to work at both campuses as needed.
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio’s infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Psychology.
  • Two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Prior experience teaching in psychology.
Salary

$4,000 per course.
