POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking an organized, collaborative, and passionate Part‑Time Education Coordinator to support our growing educational programming. This role will assist with conservatory operations, teaching, curriculum support, and training initiatives while helping ensure a positive and enriching experience for students, families, and teaching artists. This role combines educational administration with direct teaching responsibilities. The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, creative, and experienced in working with youth in performing arts education.
This role plays a key part in creating a welcoming, organized, and high‑quality educational experience for students and families across all San Pedro Playhouse education programs.
This position is based in San Antonio and requires consistent in‑person attendance during scheduled hours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Instruction & Teaching- Teach After Class programs at partner schools.
- Lead two Conservatory classes each semester.
- Teach at least one camp per semester.
- Deliver high‑quality, engaging, and age‑appropriate arts education instruction that supports student growth and learning outcomes.
- Manage Conservatory payments, attendance, absences, and scheduling coordination.
- Support routine administrative and operational activities necessary for the successful delivery of educational programming.
- Maintain accurate program records and assist with program logistics, registration support, and communication needs.
- Assist the Director of Education with curriculum development, program evaluation, and educational planning.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of educational initiatives, class offerings, and instructional resources.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to ensure program quality and alignment with organizational goals.
- Serve as the direct supervisor for Teaching Artists, overseeing onboarding, training, mentorship, classroom observations, performance evaluations, and ongoing professional development.
- Provide regular performance feedback, address performance concerns, and make recommendations regarding hiring, retention, promotion, and disciplinary actions in accordance with organizational policies.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive teaching environment that promotes instructional excellence and professional growth.
- This position carries day‑to‑day supervisory responsibilities for Teaching Artists but does not have independent authority to hire, terminate, or implement disciplinary action without approval from the Director of Education.
- Maintain positive and professional communication with families, students, staff, teaching artists, and partner organizations.
- Serve as a representative of the organization and support positive relationships with educational and community partners.
- Address routine questions and concerns from families and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
- Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Theatre Education, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered. Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching theater, performing arts, or arts education programs for youth.
