Job Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

CTE Areas Include:
Engineering, Health Science, Computer Science, Automotive Technology, Arts & AV Technology, Marketing/Finance/Business Education, Ag Science, Criminal Justice, Aviation, Construction & Architecture, and Family Consumer Science.

Education / Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is preferred.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned.
  • Demonstrated competency in the subject area assigned.
  • High school teachers: ESL certification is preferred.
Special Knowledge / Skills
  • Knowledge of CTE content area and preferred experience in industry.
  • Awareness of CTE Programs of Study and Industry Based Certifications.
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned.
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience / Other Requirements
  • At least one year of student teaching or an approved internship.
Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Strategies
  • Develop and implement lesson plans fulfilling district curriculum program requirements and document preparation evidence.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment reflecting students' learning styles and needs.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students per IEP guidelines.
  • Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Use technology to strengthen teaching/learning process.
Student Growth and Development
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside activities.
  • Act as a positive role model for students and support the district mission.
Classroom Management and Organization
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate for physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and school handbook.
  • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
  • Maintain open communication by conferences with parents, students, principals, teachers, and community members.
  • Develop professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Stay informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  • Compile, maintain, and file required reports and records.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Maintain district records and adhere to retention schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).
