The Gallery Programs Coordinator is a mission-focused, results-driven, and collaborative individual committed to developing, facilitating, and upholding unique programming within the museum’s galleries and workshop spaces that align with The DoSeum’s Signature Experience. Reporting to the Manager of Gallery Education, the successful candidate will bring an enthusiastic and playful personality to the museum’s audience, especially its young learners, be responsible for maintaining inventory of workshop equipment and materials, model and provide training on stellar programming for members of the Education team, and collaborate with the Manager of Gallery Education on unique content for weekly maker-based and art-related workshops, open studio programming, “Pop-Up” activities within galleries, quarterly “Big Day of Play” programs, and the museum’s Author’s Series.
With support from the Manager of Gallery Programs and the Education leadership team, an additional responsibility will be the expansion of the gallery programs portfolio with the creation of regular STEM demonstrations. The Gallery Programs Coordinator will develop and facilitate programming that wows and excites DoSeum Guests.
Reporting to the Manager of Gallery Education, this is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position eligible for benefits.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Gallery Program Design & Facilitation- Facilitate gallery-based programs including open studio experiences, weekly workshops, pop-up activities, and demonstrations in collaboration with gallery programs, leadership, and other members of the museum’s Education team as needed.
- Deliver programs that intentionally support visitor learning outcomes while remaining playful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.
- Incorporates the four tenants of The DoSeum’s Signature Experience into all gallery programing, ensuring learners:
- Feel welcome, safe, and considered.
- Be excited and challenged through a diversity of unique and authentic experiences.
- Expand skills and knowledge, through hands-on exploration and reflections.
- Experience joy and delight.
- Uphold a consistent program experience grounded in safety, cleanliness, courtesy, accessibility, and operational efficiency.
- Prepare program materials and learning spaces in advance to ensure seamless participation and minimize barriers for guests and facilitators.
- Adapt facilitation approaches in real time to meet the needs of diverse learners, group sizes, and gallery conditions.
- Design and facilitate programs with awareness of diverse learner profiles, incorporating equitable and inclusive practices into guests, school groups, and staff interactions in alignment with the DoSeum’s Inclusion Statement.
- With guidance from Education leadership, support the development and expansion of gallery programs, including the creation of recurring STEAM demonstrations and new learning experiences.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Gallery Education on content for signature programs such as Big Day of Play, Author’s Series, and other special initiatives.
- Contribute ideas and feedback to continuously improve program offerings and alignment with exhibit goals.
- Model effective facilitation techniques and guest engagement strategies for members of the Education team who serve the museum’s daily guests.
- Assist with training and coaching program facilitators within the gallery programs division in educational frameworks, program flow, and best practices.
