Position Title: Secondary Teacher MATHEMATICS (Grades 6-12)

Reports to: Campus Principal

Length of Term/Employment: 190 workdays / At‑will

Position Mission: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Hold at least a bachelor’s degree and present official transcripts showing the bachelor’s degree awarded.
  • Demonstrate competency in the core academic subject area.
  • Must believe fully in the mission and vision of Jubilee Academies.
Job Duties Instructional Strategies
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Prepare an emergency lesson plan folder to cover two days of material.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for SPED students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans.
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aid and volunteers.
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Participate in extended day and weekend school tutoring as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Student Growth and Development
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Teach students to work toward self‑discipline and responsibility.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus Assistant Director.
  • Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school.
  • Ensure good student discipline by being regular in attendance and on time.
Classroom Management and Organization
  • Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Use a discipline management plan that includes:
    • Ground rules, stated positively and posted so they are easily seen.
    • A step process which includes reinforcement for appropriate on‑task behavior and consequences for inappropriate off‑task behavior, posted at all times.
    • A lesson agenda that models task organization and time management skills and ensures total time planning in the classroom.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, directors, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
Other
  • Adhere to staff dress code.
  • Arrive at first morning class 15 minutes before the class bell.
