Position Mission: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. The Physical Education Teacher will effectively integrate the methodology associated with the Jubilee Academies General Physical Preparedness Curriculum.
PositionMinimum Qualifications
- Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Sport Management, or related field required. Degree may be waived in consideration of experience.

- Excellent Communication Skills (verbal and written).
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare an emergency lesson plan folder to cover 2 days of material.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for SPED students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans.
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aid and volunteers.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Participate in extended day and weekend school tutoring as required.
- Coach a minimum of two extra‑curricular sport teams based on campus needs or as assigned by the Athletic Director.
- Assist with charging at athletic events, clock / scorebook table assignment, setup and tear down of athletic equipment for competitions, scrimmages, etc.
- Attend campus and professional training as required by campus administrators, Athletic Director, and/or district.
- Other duties as assigned by campus principal, athletic director, and athletic coordinator.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Teach students to work toward self-discipline and responsibility.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus Assistant Director.
- Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school.
- Ensure good student discipline by being regular in attendance and on time.
- Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Use the discipline management plan to include but not limited to:
- Ground rules, stated positively and posted so they may be easily seen.
- A step process which includes reinforcement for appropriate on-task behavior and consequences for inappropriate off-task behavior, which is posted at all times.
- A lesson agenda, which models task organization and time management skills and ensures total time planning in the classroom.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, directors, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Adheres to the staff dress code.
- Maintains a good working relationship with Jubilee Academies staff and parents.
- Actively participates in two school committees, and will chair one committee.
