Assistant Professor of Instruction

The University of Texas at San Antonio Department of Chemistry invites applications for Assistant Professors of Instruction with a focus on organic and general chemistry teaching.

The successful candidates will teach undergraduate organic chemistry and general chemistry courses, including both lecture and lab components. This non-tenure track or Fixed-Term Track (FTT) position offers a dynamic teaching environment, with the majority of the workload focused on instruction (90%) and a small service component (10%). Please note that this position is not a pathway to a tenure-track role.

Required Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Chemistry or a closely related field of study.
• Demonstrated interest in STEM education (participation in workshops, guest lecturing in courses, etc.).
• Ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of teaching experience, as an instructor of record (not as a graduate teaching assistant) in Organic Chemistry at the collegiate level.
• Experience using evidence-based and/or active learning teaching methods.
• Advanced training or work experience in Organic Chemistry.
• Advanced training in STEM Education.
