Position Summary:
The School of Mathematics, Science, and Engineering seeks part-time faculty candidates for Lecturer in Biology. Candidates will present lectures and/or labs in undergraduate core biology, including anatomy and physiology courses and a variety of labs. Faculty shall maintain highest professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties include teaching and assigned professional activities.
Essential Functions- Prepare course outlines and teach based on approved departmental syllabi; prepare and deliver consistent, interactive lectures.
- Prepare and administer timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses.
- Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
- Be available outside of class to help students learn and answer their questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or electronically).
- Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies including timely record keeping, fair evaluation, and timely feedback.
- Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students in and out of the classroom.
- Maintain contact with the department chair and participate in meetings upon request.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to teach assigned courses.
- Ability to effectively learn and use instructional technology.
- Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening, and weekend sections as needed.
- Ability to incorporate technology into teaching.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required
Education:
Master’s Degree in Biology OR Master’s Degree in related field with 18 graduate hours in biology-related areas.

Work Experience:
None.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience teaching at the college level, preferably biology courses/labs in introductory biology, microbiology, cell biology, ecology, and anatomy & physiology.
Required Certifications, Licenses, or Registrations: N/A.
