Position Overview Greenville ISD is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Bilingual Science Teacher to provide high-quality instruction in both English and Spanish. This position supports emergent bilingual students by delivering instruction that promotes academic success, language development, and cultural awareness.
Primary Purpose Provide bilingual instruction aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and support students in developing proficiency in both English and Spanish in accordance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements and district expectations.
Qualifications
- Education / Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university - Valid Texas teaching certificate with Bilingual Education certification
- Must meet all TEA certification and assignment requirements
Special Knowledge / Skills
- Bilingual proficiency required (English/Spanish)
- Knowledge of bilingual and dual language instructional models
- Ability to deliver instruction in both English and Spanish
- Knowledge of second language acquisition strategies
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience
- Experience in a bilingual or dual language classroom preferred
- Experience working with English learners preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Instruction & Curriculum Plan and deliver instruction aligned with TEKS in both English and Spanish
- Implement bilingual or dual language instructional models as assigned
- Differentiate instruction to support language development and academic achievement
- Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction
- Student Support & Language Development Support students in developing proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in both languages
- Promote cultural awareness and appreciation
- Provide targeted support for English learners
- Classroom Environment Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Promote student engagement and participation
- Support students' academic, social, and emotional growth
- Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with grade-level teams, ESL staff, and campus leadership
- Communicate regularly with parents in both English and Spanish as appropriate
- Participate in PLCs and campus initiatives
- Professional Responsibilities Participate in professional development and required trainings
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with TEA and district requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
