Job Description

Position Summary:

Assist teachers with monitoring of the learning center and facilitating students’ learning progress.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Must be a high school graduate or hold a General Educational Development Certificate
  • Have experience working with children as approved by the employing superintendent
  • Experience may be work in church related schools, day camps, children’s organizations, private schools, licensed day-care center, or similar experience; OR
  • Be a high school student 18 years of age or older; and
  • Have a final grade of 70 or better in two or more education and training courses specified in Chapter 130, Subchapter E for three or more credits verified in writing by the superintendent of the district where the credits were earned. The education and training courses must include either:
  • Instructional Practices, as described in §130.164 or
  • Practicum in Education and Training as described in §130.165

Experience:

6+ months of experience working for Public or Private School. (preferred)

  • Passion for working for children with diverse needs
  • Ability and patience to work interactively with children
  • Basic knowledge of federal and state education laws
  • Computer literate
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist teacher or Coordinator in all areas of work
  • Create and maintain a safe learning environment to include individual or small group monitoring of students
  • Provide structures to environment for student success
  • Understand, implement and facilitate a safe culture in classroom
  • Motivate students for maximum learning
  • Be creative to keep students engaged in the learning process
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops
  • Provide consistent structure, routine and accountability standards for student success
  • Praise students, compliment them and encourage them in order to build character
  • Perform special projects, during and after normal business hours, and other duties as assigned
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor or Campus Leadership
