Position SummaryThe Alvarez College of Business, Department of Accounting, seeks a Fixed‑Term‑Track (FTT) position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice, beginning Fall 2026. This position supports the department’s Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and the Master’s of Accountancy program.
Standard teaching load for a full‑time fixed‑term‑track faculty member is 4/4. The role requires service to the department and continued involvement in the accounting industry (e.g., membership in state or national accounting societies). A terminal degree is highly preferred for graduate course instruction.
Essential Functions- Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
- Plan and create lectures, in‑class discussions, and assignments.
- Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
- Integrate technology knowledge, including automation and artificial intelligence, in the course curriculum, which could aid students in their professional careers.
- Assist/mentor students as needed.
- Participate in department service activities including committee assignments, advisors for accounting clubs and organizations, and other departmental/college services.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position requires teaching locally at the University of Texas at San Antonio’s main campus in San Antonio. Candidates who are not local will not be considered for this position.
May be required to teach during the day, in the evening, or on weekends, as scheduled by the department.
Qualifications- Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
- Five years of teaching and/or work experience in one or more of the areas of specialization, including accounting, tax, and audit.
- The ability to teach locally in San Antonio on the main campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio.
- Professional certification includes, but is not limited to, a Certified Public Accountant license, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Enrolled Agent.
- The ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
- Doctoral degree in accounting, tax, or a related field.
- A current curriculum vitae.
- Complete contact information for at least three professional references.
- A teaching statement.
- A letter of interest describing the applicant’s professional experience, highlighting any work in the accounting field.
