Job Description
Position Title:
Paraprofessional Pre‑K
Location:
Jubilee Academies Jubilee Lake View University Prep, San Antonio, TX
Position Type:
Salaried, Non‑Exempt, full‑time, funded by grant funds (State Comp Ed).
Hours:
Monday‑Friday, full‑time.
Term: 190 workdays (at‑will).
Reports to:
Teacher(s) assigned and Campus Principal.
Position Mission:
Provide additional support to students with pre‑diagnosed moderate to severe disabilities or at‑risk students, assisting in creating an organized, smooth functioning environment so all students can benefit from instruction and resources.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completed 48+ semester hours at a higher‑education institution or Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate.
- 3‑5 years of experience working with children in a classroom setting.
- Knowledge of and ability to assist in instruction of reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness.
- Ability to work well with children.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of general office equipment, safety equipment, and food service equipment.
- Assist teacher with instructing and supervising at‑risk students in classroom activities.
- Assist teacher in devising and implementing special strategies to reinforce skills based on individual student needs.
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments and assignments.
- Help maintain an orderly classroom, including inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports; provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Assist teacher with developing individualized activities for at‑risk students.
- Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group supervision to at‑risk students as needed.
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher with individual students or small groups.
- Supervise students during the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom monitoring, serving, playground duty, and street crossing duties.
- Notify teacher of any special needs or problems of individual students.
- Complete other duties assigned by the teacher to promote the Title 1 instructional program.
- Adhere to staff dress code.
- Maintain positive relationships with staff and parents.
- Support and participate in fundraising activities.
- Participate in staff development training, faculty meetings, special events, and committee assignments.
- Convey the charter’s mission to the public and encourage support.
- Demonstrate productive skills to raise community and parent involvement; participate in student recruitment efforts.
- Encourage a constructive, thoughtful learning climate and promote fairness across cultural backgrounds.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Moderate and prolonged standing.
- Stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, and lifting required.
- Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom supplies.
