Position: Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M)

At TX-STAR Speech Language Services, we partner with school districts across Texas to support students with diverse learning needs. We are currently hiring Orientation and Mobility Specialists (O&M) for school-based opportunities throughout Texas.

This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about supporting students with visual impairments and helping them navigate their environments safely and independently.

What You’ll Do

As an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, you will provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments to support safe, confident, and independent travel.

  • Provide direct orientation and mobility instruction to students
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate students’ mobility and travel needs
  • Develop and implement IEP goals related to orientation and mobility
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and provide recommendations
  • Provide training and consultation to school staff and families as needed
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation and reports
What You’ll Need
  • Current certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (ACVREP)
  • Knowledge of assessment and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments
  • Ability to develop and implement IEP goals and track progress
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is a plus
