Assistant Professor of Instruction – College of Sciences, Chemistry

Location:

San Antonio, TX – Full Time, Regular 9‑month contract.

Salary Range: $54,000 for a 9‑month contract, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Position Summary

Teach undergraduate biochemistry courses, including lecture and lab components. The position is non‑tenure‑track / Fixed‑Term Track (FTT) with a focus on instruction (90%) and a small service component (10%). No research requirement. This role is not a step toward a tenure‑track position.

Responsibilities

Teach and develop undergraduate biochemistry courses; design and implement classroom and laboratory instruction; incorporate evidence‑based and active learning methods; maintain instructional quality and integrity.

Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in STEM education.
  • Ability to maintain security and integrity of institutional infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience as an instructor of record in Biochemistry at the collegiate level.
  • Experience using evidence‑based and/or active‑learning teaching methods.
  • Advanced training or work experience in Biochemistry.
  • Advanced training in STEM education.
