Job Description

The Department of Health and Behavioral Sciences at Texas A&M University—San Antonio seeks to hire a part‑time Adjunct Instructor of Psychology. Expertise is open, but preference is given to applicants with teaching experience and an understanding of psychological research methods. Appointment will begin in Fall 2026. Potential courses include Research Methods and Statistics, Writing for Psychology, The Psychology Major, and other courses as needs arise.

Courses may be offered days, evenings, or weekends, primarily in person. The department is committed to evidence‑driven teaching practices and seeks faculty who are willing to innovate and experiment.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Masters degree in Psychology from an accredited university.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Broad training in psychology.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited university.
  • Experience serving as an instructor of record at the college/university level.
  • Experience teaching at a multicultural university.
  • Experience teaching in a non‑traditional commuter university setting.
  • Ability to teach a range of courses in psychology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong self‑discipline and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to interact with students from multicultural backgrounds.

Selected candidates must pass a pre‑employment background investigation and the position is security‑sensitive, requiring a criminal history check. All positions are subject to verification of credentials and other information required by institutional procedures.
