Job Overview
You’ll inspire creativity, build confidence, and help students gain coding experience and computational thinking skills for the jobs of tomorrow.
Responsibilities- Lead and oversee all operations of assigned sessions, including developing and carrying out lesson plans and activities.
- Manage the classroom and lead assistant instructors/mentors.
- Teach a coding curriculum to K-12 students.
- Build positive relationships with program participants, families, staff and partners.
- Create an inclusive atmosphere that respects each student’s talents and individuality.
- Ensure the safety of all students and staff.
- Work closely with the Educational Programs Manager.
- Be on time, prepared, and cheerful; demonstrate professionalism, ethics, integrity and accountability.
- Apply strong problem‑solving skills, flexibility, and leadership to take ownership of projects.
- Minimum two years of teaching experience in a classroom setting.
- Teaching certificate is a plus. Subject‑matter experts with interest in education are considered.
- Classroom management experience, including curriculum differentiation.
- Technical experience with block‑based and text‑based programming languages.
- Positive, inclusive attitude toward neurodiverse students.
- High energy and passion for technology and children’s learning.
- Strong commitment to teaching coding and building a safe, student‑focused community.
- Computer science programming background with a desire to work with students.
- Ability to develop engaging coding activities.
- Youth supervisory experience.
- First aid/CPR certified or willing to be certified.
- Experience working with diverse racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to provide leadership and energy, assessing group dynamics and individual needs.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the city.
- Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.
- Willingness to complete other duties as assigned.
- Strong problem‑solving, flexibility, and professional demeanor in challenging situations.
Part‑time: 15-20 hours per week; full‑time: 32-40 hours per week. Standard office hours are 9 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday. Weekend work may be required. During the school year, clubs and camps run before/after school from September through May, and all day during summer (June-August). Employees must arrive 30-60 minutes before each program and stay on site to secure the room and equipment at the end of the session.
