Youth Development Program Director - Boerne Area

The Youth Development Program Director is the operational director for five (5) School Age sites and a summer camp program. With guidance from the Youth Development Program Executive, the incumbent develops, organizes, and implements high quality YMCA after school program(s). The position is responsible for ensuring program staff complete all required training classes. Serves as coach and mentor to staff in correcting deficiencies noted by licensing inspections.

The Director must perform all duties in accordance with state guidelines for youth development programs as well as the policies, procedures, and standards established by the YMCA of Greater San Antonio.

This position will receive a minimum of 4 weeks Paid-Time Off, Holiday Pay, Full-Time benefits to include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, a Retirement 403(b) pension plan upon eligibility and a Free YMCA Household Membership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages, directs and coordinates the after school programs for assigned location(s). Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget. Prepares monthly variance reports.
  • Ensures the start up and close down of each program site.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
  • Organizes special events for parents.
  • Assists with Program Committee meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Education, Child Development, Family Services or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in administration, staff supervision and promotion is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must meet TDFPS standards for Director qualifications.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
