Position Summary

Athletics Advising Graduate Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to: mentoring student‑athletes; assisting Athletics Academic Advisors with the support of student‑athlete academic goals, and determining the educational support needs of student‑athletes.

Essential Functions
  • Assist athletics academic advisors and student‑athletes with academic advising issues.
  • Conduct weekly academic meetings with assigned student‑athletes.
  • Serve as a point of contact for information and academic referral service to student athletes.
  • Create and maintain Athletics Academic social media platforms and newsletter.
  • Conduct student workshops on student success skills.
  • Assist in collecting data and preparing reports for athletics academic advisors in all aspects of academic support services.
  • Assist in meetings with recruits as needed.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of student records.
  • Other duties as assigned by the director of advising and/or athletics academic advisors.
Qualifications

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in athletics academic advising.
  • Ability to plan, develop and conduct training for student athletes.
  • Excellent verbal, written and technical communication skills.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft products.
  • Strong organizational, presentation, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail. Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the conference, and the NCAA.
