Work Hours: Ten (10) hours per week.

Position Summary

The Ecumenical/Interfaith Coordinator serves as a Peer Ministry Intern (PMI) within University Mission and Ministry (UMM) to articulate the mission of the division by engaging university life through prayer, worship, outreach, faith development, and pastoral care. The coordinator reports to the Ecumenical Interfaith Chaplain.

Essential Functions
  • Actively participates in the planning of ecumenical/interfaith programs;
  • Assists in establishing dialogue with other faith leaders within the UIW community and surrounding communities;
  • Assists in the creation of policy, education, and dialogue for the UIW community;
  • Serves as liaison between the UIW Interfaith Council and the Interfaith Student Association;
  • Works diligently to promote culture and diversity on campus through programs and activities;
  • Acts as a resource person for the various cultural, ethnic and faith-based groups on campus;
  • Assists with the development and publishing of newsletters and webpage content for the Interfaith Council;
  • Helps to maintain a positive, inviting atmosphere and physical environment for all people;
  • Meets regularly with the Director of Ecumenical/Interfaith Initiatives and/or Graduate Assistant for updates, mentoring, and guidance;
  • Collaborates with other areas within the division, such as Faith Formation, Music Ministry, Media Ministry, and Liturgy/ Worship;
  • Attends area and divisional formation sessions as listed on the academic calendar;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Strong leadership skills;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Formation and active participation in one’s faith tradition through prayer and personal spirituality;
  • Knowledge and experience of one's own tradition as well as openness to other faith traditions, prayer experiences, music, and topics relevant to being a young adult;
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education

Current UIW student.

Required Work Experience
  • Basic work experience in public speaking, leading small and large group activities—training provided;
  • Previous participation in ministry as a volunteer, part-time, or full-time capacity at a church, synagogue, mosque, school, or institution leading youth group activities such as retreats, prayer services, faith sharing groups, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.).
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs for table event set-up.
  • Ability to reach overhead, bend, and squat to retrieve event materials.
  • Ability to push/pull event carts holding up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage faculty, staff, and potential/current students, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
