Primary
Purpose:
The Choir Director shall direct the instructional program for all choir students and coordinate campus choir activities.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements – All Level or Secondary Music Education
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Successful fingerprinting background check; employee pays non‑refundable fee (~$50)
Special Knowledge and
Skills:
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of public‑school music teaching experience, preferred
- Vocal music pedagogy experience, preferred
- Provide instruction in the choir program
- Coordinate the instructional process for choir students in concerts, choir, and music appreciation classes
- Maintain accurate choir inventory, budget, and general operation of all activities
- Support all district policies regarding the welfare and education of students
- Coordinate campus choir activities with campus programs, staff, and community
- Prepare students for quality participation in UIL/TMEA sponsored events
- Participate in professional development to maintain current knowledge of personnel rules, regulations, and practices
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Maintain consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics
- Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job
Supervision and evaluation of district personnel is not a requirement; however, supervision of students is required. Direct the work of instructional aide(s).

Environmental Factors:
- Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibration
- Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces, work alone, work prolonged or irregular hours.
