Position Summary
The Student & Young Adult Minister provides leadership, vision, and oversight for the student ministry (6th–12th grade) and young adult ministry (18–30). This person is responsible for creating environments where students and young adults can encounter Jesus, grow in their faith, build meaningful relationships, and become disciple-makers.
The ideal candidate is a relational leader, gifted communicator, team builder, and culture creator who is passionate about partnering with parents in the discipleship of students and helping young adults find community, purpose, and spiritual growth within the local church.
Primary Responsibilities Student Ministry Leadership- Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for all student ministry environments.
- Plan and execute weekly gatherings, small groups, discipleship opportunities, retreats, camps, and outreach events.
- Develop a clear pathway that helps students move from attending to growing, serving, and leading.
- Recruit, train, and develop volunteer leaders who can effectively disciple students.
- Build a ministry culture that is welcoming, engaging, safe, and centered on spiritual growth.
- Create opportunities for students to discover and use their gifts through service and leadership.
- Champion a philosophy of family discipleship that recognizes parents as the primary spiritual influence in a student’s life.
- Equip parents with practical tools, resources, and encouragement to disciple their children at home.
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding ministry events, spiritual milestones, and discipleship opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with families through intentional connection and pastoral care.
- Develop parent gatherings, training opportunities, and resources that strengthen families and support spiritual formation in the home.
- Lead and develop a thriving ministry for college-age and young adult individuals.
- Create environments that foster biblical community, spiritual growth, and meaningful relationships.
- Develop leaders who can facilitate groups, mentor others, and expand ministry impact.
- Connect young adults into the broader life of the church through serving, leadership, and discipleship opportunities.
- Address the unique spiritual, relational, and vocational challenges facing young adults.
- Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer leaders for both student and young adult ministries.
- Build healthy leadership teams that reflect the mission, values, and culture of the church.
- Develop systems for onboarding, coaching, appreciation, and ongoing leader development.
- Identify and mentor emerging leaders and future ministry volunteers.
- Students and young adults are taking measurable next steps in discipleship.
- Parents actively engaged in the spiritual development of their children.
- Healthy volunteer teams that are growing and multiplying.
- A strong ministry culture marked by belonging, leadership development, and spiritual growth.
- Increasing numbers of students and young adults serving, leading, and making disciples.
- Effective integration of the next generation into the life and mission of the church.

Reports to: Executive Minister
Organizational Relationships: Ministry area leaders and volunteers, generational staff, administrative support staff
External Relationships: Para-church organizations, local churches, vendors, as required.
Hours/Shifts40+ hr work schedule, may vary due to events and demands of ministry areas. Default will be Sunday – Thursday (generally 8 am-5 pm with flexibility) but will/Can vary as needed to support the ministry calendar.
Working ConditionsOn-site with some travel to off-site meetings and occasional conferences. Work conditions include general labor, lifting, bending, stooping, and reaching.
