Communication Arts Part‑Time Lecturer‑Film Studies Spring 2027
The Department of Communication Arts in the School of Media & Design seeks a part‑time faculty member to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in film studies, including film history, criticism, theory, and genre studies for the Spring 2027 semester. The appointment is part‑time and non‑benefits eligible.
Essential FunctionsBasic Instructional Duties:
- Prepare course outlines and teach based on approved departmental syllabi; deliver consistent, interactive lectures.
- Prepare and administer timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses.
- Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
- Be available outside of class to help students learn and answer questions (1 hour per 3‑hour class, physically and/or electronically).
- Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies and procedures, including timely record‑keeping of student activities, fair evaluation, and timely feedback.
- Maintain respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
- Maintain contact with the department chair and participate in meetings upon request.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- MFA or MA in Film Studies, Cinema, or related field.
- Demonstrated teaching experience at the college or university level (graduate teaching or TA experience will be considered).
- Ability to deliver instruction online and effectively use instructional technology.
- Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening, and weekend sections as needed.
- Ability to incorporate technology into teaching.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Adherence to all applicable rules and regulations of the University and relevant governing bodies.
The position is not benefits eligible. Salary ranges from $4,000 for lecture courses to $5,000 for studio courses or based on enrollment.
