Role DescriptionThe Starr Family Jewish Day School is seeking a dynamic 2nd and 4th Grade ELA & Math Teacher to inspire students through engaging, standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts and Mathematics. The ideal candidate creates a positive, student-centered classroom that promotes academic excellence, critical thinking, and a love of learning.
Responsibilitiesinclude designing and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that inspire curiosity and support the diverse learning needs of students in English Language Arts and Mathematics. The teacher will monitor student progress through ongoing assessments, use data to guide instruction and personalize learning, and provide meaningful feedback that supports academic growth. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum and instructional practices while building strong partnerships with families through open, consistent communication about student achievement, classroom experiences, and individual progress.
The successful candidate will create an organized and respectful classroom culture that supports students' academic, social, and emotional development. As a member of the Starr Family Jewish Day School community, the teacher will integrate Jewish values and traditions into the classroom experience where appropriate and actively participate in school events, faculty collaboration, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field;
Texas teaching certification (or eligibility for certification) preferred. - Demonstrated experience teaching elementary English Language Arts and Mathematics, preferably in grades 2–4.
- Strong understanding of elementary literacy and mathematics instruction, including best practices for differentiated learning and intervention.
- Ability to develop engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans and use assessment data to drive instructional decisions.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Experience collaborating on curriculum planning and participating in a team-oriented school culture.
- Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning tools to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Appreciation for values-based education and an interest in supporting the mission of a Jewish day school.
