Special Education Self-Contained Instructional Aide

As a Special Education Self-Contained Instructional Aide, you will be a vital partner in helping students with diverse learning needs reach their fullest potential. You'll work side-by-side with dedicated teachers, service providers, and other staff members to provide individualized support, adapt lessons, and create a classroom environment where every student feels valued, capable, and celebrated for their unique strengths. Your patience, creativity, and encouragement will help students achieve milestones that lead to the next levels of success.
What You'll Do:
- Provide one-on-one and small-group academic and behavioral support to students in a self-contained classroom.
- Assist in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by adapting materials, reinforcing skills, and tracking progress.
- Support students with daily living skills, social-emotional growth, and positive behavior strategies.
- Collaborate closely with the classroom teacher to prepare instructional materials and organize learning activities.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment where students feel confident to take risks and grow.
- Assist with transitions, mobility, and personal care needs as required.
- Communicate regularly with the teacher and support staff to ensure consistent, student-centered care.
- Adhere to IEPs and BIPs to ensure each student benefits from clear and consistent learning environments and schedules.
What You'll Bring:
- A genuine passion for working with students with special needs and a belief in their limitless potential.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with students and families.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
- Ability to follow instructional plans while adapting to students' individual needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college or paraprofessional certification preferred).
- Experience in a special education or classroom setting is a plus, but a growth mindset and willingness to learn are essential.
