The University of Texas School of Public Health San Antonio (the School) was founded in 2022 as a collaboration between The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio) and The University of Texas at San Antonio, both designated as Hispanic-Serving Institutions by the U.S. Department of Education. On September 1, 2025, both universities will merge as a single institution, which will be known as The University of Texas at San Antonio.

The School provides graduate-level academic instruction in public health and is actively conducting research and community engagement activities aimed at promoting and maintaining community health.

The Department of Quantitative and Qualitative Health Sciences seeks faculty candidates with demonstrable academic skills for faculty positions. The Department welcomes faculty with various research, teaching, and service interests in epidemiology and/or biostatistics in a variety of fields of study including epidemiologic research in infectious diseases; epidemiologic research in chronic diseases; cancer epidemiology; spatial, environmental, social, and/or genetic epidemiology; aging; cardiometabolic and cardiovascular outcomes;

substance use; injury prevention; mental health; maternal-fetal and women’s health; exercise and physical activity; and related fields. Faculty may have methodological interests including cohort, case‑control, or cross‑sectional studies; secondary data analysis; longitudinal data analysis, meta‑analysis; clinical trials; qualitative methodologies; or mixed methods.

The Department seeks to identify successful candidates with demonstrated research portfolios and scholarly publications, and experience in teaching coursework appropriate to graduate‑level instruction in the domain of quantitative and qualitative health sciences and their application in public health. Faculty will be expected to contribute formally to the academic curricula, teach graduate courses, and actively engage in forming the School through internal and external service activities.

  • A doctorate in public health or a related field.
  • Prior experience teaching at the graduate level.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct both practical and academic research.
  • Expertise or experience related to historically under-resourced populations are desirable but not required.
  • Curriculum vitae with contact information for three references.
  • Cover letter outlining qualifications, interest in the position, teaching and mentoring philosophy, academic research trajectory, funding history, and future plans.
Benefits Overview
