Summary
The Campus Ministry Coordinator is responsible for developing, sustaining, and expanding ministry initiatives among students at the college and universities within the geographic boundaries of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The coordinator will work directly with the Parochial Administrator and the Campus Ministry team in helping students who have never met Christ to encounter Him, supporting those who have met Him to grow in their relationship with Him, and equipping those who follow Christ so that they can become apostles on their campuses and in the community.
PositionResponsibilities
- * This role requires a balance of independent initiative—planning and creating new ministry programs and events—and collaborative leadership, empowering students and volunteers to take ownership of their discipleship and ministry projects.
- * Invent approaches and original events to foster strong discipleship programs; from specialized knowledge and experience in ministry and theology, create opportunities to form students into leaders to then accompany students in their faith journey.
- * Develop creative and engaging ministry programs, including innovative liturgies, retreats, service opportunities, and social media content in collaboration with the FOCUS missionaries that resonate with college students.
- * Evaluate and assess theological content provided to students to ensure all teachings and messages are consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church and any research and evaluation necessary for digital content from official campus ministry platforms.
- * Manage the quality of regular campus ministry events which include but are not limited to: weekly Masses, opportunity for confessions, Eucharistic adoration, service projects, fellowship, and regular student meetings. This includes all ranges of general operation of Campus Ministry; from discerning large picture ministry planning to ensuring all details are covered for needs of each gathering.
- * Exercise discretion and independent judgement with respect to identifying pastoral needs of students and responding appropriately. This includes the awareness of when students need referral for guidance or services beyond the scope of campus ministry.
- Operate within the Campus Ministry budget across all campus ministry events and planning.
- * In collaboration and consultation with the Parochial Administrator, establish and implement strategic short- and long-term office goals, plans, objectives, ministerial policies, and operating procedures.
- * Design and implement ministry strategies that address varying student spiritual needs across campus.
- * Analyze and assess ministry outcomes, adjusting programs to better serve students’ growth and engagement.
- * Establish and lead discipleship groups or meetings with students to foster a culture of discipleship in campus ministry.
- * Identify student leadership potential from within involved students, to then spiritually guide and ministerially train them as missionary disciples. Examples include train, mentor, and equip student leaders to independently plan and execute ministry initiatives, foster a culture where students initiate discipleship projects and feel ownership of their spiritual growth, and encourage student decision-making while providing pastoral guidance.
- * In collaboration with the Campus Ministry Team, recruit, supervise and train all campus ministry volunteers.
- Support the Events & Liturgies Coordinator in implementing events to reach out to new students. These include new and creative social and spiritual activities geared to reaching different types of new students and students at different thresholds of evangelization.
- Collaborate as an equal and contributing member of the Campus Ministry team with the coordinators of each campus and remain in regular communication.
- Regularly engage in personal growth, professional development, theological study, prayer, charity and justice work, and spiritual formation.
- Create and foster relationships with pastors and parish staff near college and university campuses.
- * Provide support to St. Anthony Student Center including but limited to assisting with special projects,…
