Position SummaryThe Department of Modern Languages invites part-time faculty candidates for Lecturer in Japanese within the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. Position will teach first-year Japanese courses and/or any other Japanese courses as needed. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and teaching responsibilities of part-time faculty members at the University include teaching and professional activities as assigned.
EssentialFunctions
Basic Instructional Duties:
- Native or near-native fluency in Japanese;
- Ability to deliver instruction online as needed;
- Ability to effectively learn, use, and incorporate instructional technology into teaching;
- Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening, and weekend sections as needed;
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Master of Arts Degree in Japanese or Master's Degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in Japanese.
Required Work ExperienceOne (1) year of teaching experience in Japanese with demonstrated instructional competency via student and peer evaluation processes.
Preferred Qualifications- Ph.D. in Japanese;
- Two (2) years' successful experience teaching at the undergraduate level, with documentation of student evaluations.
