Job Description

Position Title: Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Position Type: Salaried $55,050.00 / Exempt;
Funded with State Compensatory Education Funds. (This position is contingent upon annual grant funding from the ESEA, Title I, Part A Improving Basic Programs Fund 285.)

Reports to: Campus Principal

Length of Term/Employment: 190 workdays / At‑will

Position Mission: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Hold at least a bachelor's degree and present official transcripts showing the degree awarded.
  • Possess 2+ years of experience with early childhood education and service.
  • Demonstrate competency in the core academic subject area.
  • Believe fully in the mission and vision of Jubilee Academies.
Job Duties Instructional Strategies
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school curriculum program and provide written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Prepare an emergency lesson plan folder to cover two days of material.
  • Design lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of students' learning styles and needs.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for SPED students according to IEP guidelines.
  • Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Participate in extended day and weekend school tutoring as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Student Growth And Development
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Teach students to work toward self‑discipline and responsibility.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus Assistant Director.
  • Be a positive role model and support the mission of the school.
  • Ensure good student discipline by being regular in attendance and on time.
Classroom Management And Organization
  • Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Use the discipline management plan to establish ground rules that are posted so they can be easily seen.
  • Implement a step process that includes reinforcement for appropriate on‑task behavior and consequences for inappropriate off‑task behavior, which is posted at all times.
  • A lesson agenda models task organization, time‑management skills, and ensures total time planning in the classroom.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, directors, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth And Development
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
Other
  • Work week schedule:
    Work day begins at 7:30 a.m.
  • Adheres to staff dress code.
  • Arrives at first morning class 15 minutes before the class bell.
