Physical Education Teacher/Assistant Coach
The position of a Physical Education Teacher/Asst. Coach will be available at East Central ISD for the school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. Primary
Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect the understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
- Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school district.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree - Valid Texas Teacher's Certificate - PE EC-12 and appropriate certification for content area assigned [Physical Education Teachers:

Skills:

Equipment Used:
Athletic equipment, standard office equipment including computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment; [Physical Education Teachers:

Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Sitting; prolonged standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping. Frequent walking; repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent physical movements associated with sport; moderate grasping/squeezing, write flexion/extension and reaching. Frequently light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds). Frequent district-wide and statewide travel.
Frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun and heat.
