Position Summary
The Department of Music invites part-time faculty candidates for Lecturer in Violin / Concertmaster within the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. This faculty position will teach applied violin lessons, will serve as Concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Incarnate Word, and may also be asked to teach other courses or coach ensembles (e.g., string quartet). Responsibilities also include recruitment and may include attendance at departmental studio hour and instrumental seminar, as needed, on Thursdays from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.

- Must be able to teach weekly applied violin lessons;
- Must be able to serve as concertmaster of a student / community orchestra;
- Ability to deliver instruction both in person and/or online as needed;
- Ability to effectively learn, use, and incorporate instructional technology into teaching;
- Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening and weekend sections as needed;
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Master's Degree in Music with an emphasis in Violin Performance or Pedagogy.
Required Work Experience- At least two (2) years of experience teaching applied lessons in violin.
- Evidence of significant performing experience on violin, including experience as a concertmaster.
- Doctoral Degree in Music with an emphasis in Violin Performance or Pedagogy.
- College/university-level teaching experience.
- Professional concertmaster experience.
- String chamber ensemble coaching experience.

Work HoursMonday evening rehearsals for the Orchestra of the Incarnate Word and evening concerts, which may include weekends. Applied lessons, as is typical in this field. Occasional attendance, as needed, at departmental recital hour and instrumental seminar on Thursdays, 1:30-2:45 p.m., as well as instrumental juries, hearings, and recitals, as needed.
