Primary
Purpose:
Assist with the implementation of dual language and English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies at elementary campuses. Work with Emergent Bilinguals and classroom teachers to support academic achievement and language acquisition.
Education/Certification:
Appropriate Grade Level & Content certification Bilingual certification Master's Degree (preferred)
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Work closely with the Multilingual Services department to provide campus support in alignment with the department's goals and initiatives Work closely with the campus principal and team leaders to provide a quality instructional program for emergent bilinguals Working knowledge of Chapter 89, BB State plan for educating English Learners Working knowledge of Chapter 74 ELPS, English Language Proficiency Standards Plan and facilitate professional learning opportunities for staff related to emergent bilinguals Possess strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written) Public relations skills
Experience:
Three years teaching experience Experience teaching emergent bilinguals (preferred)
Plan, prepare and deliver staff development based on campus data and in alignment with the district's comprehensive professional development plan Use data to identify areas of need for targeted intervention for emergent bilinguals Provide targeted academic intervention for emergent bilinguals Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention provided to emergent bilinguals Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide tiered intervention to emergent bilinguals Support students and teachers with the integration of technology in the instructional program Coach teachers in the use of research based instructional practices Support the implementation of district curriculum by helping teachers plan for effective instructions for emergent bilinguals Facilitate differentiation for different English proficiency levels by planning with grade level teams Model lessons and initiate conferences with principals and campus staff about effective Dual Language and ESL instructional strategies Demonstrate a working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, best teaching practices, data interpretation, and technology Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisor Follow attendance policy as assigned by supervisor Perform other functions that may be assigned by administration and/or supervisor
