Summary:

The Instructional Interventionist fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by providing targeted academic intervention and specialized instructional support that enables all students to reach their God-given potential. The Interventionist collaborates with teachers, administrators, parents, and support personnel to identify student learning needs, implement evidence-based interventions, and monitor student progress in a loving, Christ-centered environment. The Interventionist is immediately responsible to the Principal for carrying out the policies of the school and the Archdiocese of San Antonio as they relate to student support services, intervention programs, and instructional practices.

Position Responsibilities

Mission and Catholic Identity

* Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.

* Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.

* Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and the Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.

* Maintains confidentiality regarding all school matters and student information.

* Adheres to safety training and protocols daily and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.

* Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of all student records, educational information, assessment results, and any information obtained through employment.

* Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.

* Demonstrates a solution-oriented approach while fostering collaboration, professionalism, and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the school.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Student Intervention and Instruction

* Provide evidence-based academic interventions for students requiring additional support in reading, writing, mathematics, and other core academic areas.

* Deliver specialized instruction for students receiving dyslexia intervention and support services using approved instructional programs and methodologies.

* Provide instructional support and accommodations for students receiving special education services in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Service Plans, or accommodation plans.

* Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement appropriate accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies within the general education classroom.

* Assist with identifying students who may require intervention through screening, progress monitoring, classroom observations, and data analysis.

* Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on assessment data and student needs.

* Monitor student progress regularly and adjust interventions to maximize student achievement.

* Utilize research-based instructional practices that address a variety of learning styles and individual student needs.

* Incorporate technology and instructional resources to strengthen student learning and engagement.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring

* Administer and interpret academic screening tools, diagnostic assessments, progress monitoring assessments, and other educational evaluations as assigned.

* Maintain accurate records of student intervention services, progress monitoring data, and assessment results.

* Analyze student data to determine instructional effectiveness and make recommendations for continued intervention or referral.

* Assist in preparing documentation required for intervention services, dyslexia services, special education referrals, and student support meetings.

Collaboration and Communication

* Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to develop instructional strategies that support struggling learners.

* Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, intervention goals, and strategies for continued support at home.

* Collaborate with administrators, counselors, instructional aides, specialists, and outside service providers to ensure coordinated support for students.

* Assist teachers in implementing accommodations and differentiated instructional practices within the classroom.

* Serve as a resource to faculty regarding intervention strategies, dyslexia best practices, special education supports, and inclusive instructional practices.

Student Growth and Development

* Foster student confidence, independence, and self-advocacy skills.

* Help students develop effective organizational skills, study habits, and learning strategies.

* Promote a positive learning environment that encourages perseverance, resilience, and academic success.

* Serve as a positive role model while supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
