Groups Director - CBC Central
The Groups Director - CBC Central is responsible for nurturing the overall health, growth, and spiritual well-being of all Adult Community Groups assigned to the Central campus. This role focuses on intentionally investing in the development, training, and ongoing support of group leaders and coaches to foster strong, thriving communities. Additionally, the Groups Director partners closely with campus leadership to assist in addressing the pastoral care needs of the Central campus congregation, ensuring that individuals and groups receive the guidance and support necessary for spiritual growth and connection.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee & shepherd the spiritual health and vitality of all Adult Community Groups
- Cultivate a relationship with each Community Group Coach and Leader, serving as the primary staff contact for their group
- Recruit and develop spiritually mature Coaches to help oversee, care, and shepherd existing groups
- Equip and develop each leader to effectively live out our "Up, In, & Out" ministry rhythms within their groups
- Lead, and plan in group training at Equip and various training events throughout the year
- Instill a pastoral mindset in each group that every member is a minister, as they seek to shepherd one another
- Be available to minister to and serve each leader to bring resolution to larger issues arise
- Provide pastoral care and biblical counsel to groups, in areas where they need direction or may feel ill-equipped
- Assist with Pastoral care needs after regular work hours when time-sensitive or urgent pastoral care needs arise (phone calls, hospital visits, etc.)
- Assist with pastoral care needs of the campus. Partner with Small Group Ministry Team on pastoral care issues and keep that team apprised on all related issues
- Manage administrative responsibilities including budget tracking, Ramp reconciliation, PTO and hours-worked approval, check requests, and financial record-keeping to ensure accurate and timely reporting and adherence to ministry budgets
- Be available as needed to assist in crisis situations, hospital visits, funerals, and/or weddings
- Participate in "on call ministry" rotation and Sunday altar ministry, as needed
- Regularly celebrate & capture stories of life-change happening within groups
- Maintain the accuracy of leader and group data in our systems (Rock, Smartsheets)
- Be available to instruct MTI students and assist Pastors Day as needed
- Periodically serve in church-wide events including special holiday weekend services and CBC Cares

- Possess strong communication skills in the English language (verbal and written)
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with other ministries
- Possess strong attention to detail
- Ability to respond to emergent or stressful situations in a calm and professional manner
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, work independently, multitask, and produce results in a high-stress environment
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Slides) or Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Comply with standard departmental procedures
- Highest level of personal integrity with an uncompromised commitment to the maintenance of the confidentiality and privacy of all personal and church matters, data, and information
- Must be forward-thinking and anticipate the needs of others
- Highly relational, pastoral, and Spirit-led leader
- Proven ability to effectively lead small groups
- Able to identify, encourage, and develop leaders in a small groups' environment
- A shepherd, ready to walk into pastoral care situations with compassion, discernment, biblical counsel, and wisdom
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a regular full-time position (36-40 hrs) Sunday-Thursday. Occasional night and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
- Must be able to move about inside the office and file rooms to perform a variety of tasks
- Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form
- Must be able to occasionally lift 10-75 pounds and/or push/pull objects up to 50 pounds
- Occasional events/activities outdoors in the heat, occasional events/activities requiring prolonged standing
- Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
Education and Experience:
High school education, GED, or equivalent experience required. Bachelor's degree is highly preferred. Previous experience working or volunteering in small groups ministry, preferably in a large church environment.
