At this age the hardest work children do is play, and almost everything islearned through toys and games. The classrooms are theme based, with learningcenters and a range of materials, and the approach is hands-on — children learnby experimenting and exploring rather than by being talked at.

Alongside Language Arts, Number Concepts, Arts and Crafts, and fine and grossmotor skills, much of the year is spent on self-help: graduating from a sippycup to a regular cup, letting go of the pacifier, using forks and spoons, tablemanners, and learning to use the bathroom. Potty training is done in partnership with parents.

Children are encouraged to sing, repeat nursery rhymes and build vocabulary. Youwould track daily activities so families can see how their child’s day went.

• A CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or an Associate degree
• 18 years or older, with a high school diploma or equivalent
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it
• A DFPS background check, or willingness to complete one
