Position Summary

The Writing and Learning Center ( WLC ) Program Leader is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Writing and Learning Center. The WLC Program Leader reports to the Director of Learning Support Services.

Description of Job Duties

  • Ensures that the Learning Support lab functions smoothly.
  • Manages writing tutor schedules, including regular tutoring schedule and workshops as requested.
  • Provides coverage for front desk, as needed, to include answering phones, making appointments, and responding to emails.
  • Serves as first line of contact for student and tutor concerns.
  • Troubleshoots technology used for tutoring.
  • Updates binder with comprehensive program information.

  • Works with leadership to hire and train student writing tutors and office assistants.
  • Maintains program hiring records and communicates with applicants for both Learning Support programs.
  • Coaches writing tutors on working with students.
