Qualifications

Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required

Have content knowledge in the area you are applying as indicated by your major/minor, previous experiences, or certifications.

For PreK teachers:
Hold an active EC-6 Certificate

Can pass a criminal background check

• Minimum 1-2 years teaching experience

As a Dyslexia Teacher at Compass Rose, you play a critical role in preparing students with both the academic and social-emotional skills necessary to persist, advocate for themselves, and engage productively in their communities.

In this role, you help ensure our dyslexia services align with the desires and strengths of our community.

To this end, you teach and support:

• Evidence-based, structured literacy skills that empower students to become confident, independent readers ready for rigorous academic pathways.
• Social-emotional skills and self-advocacy strategies that help students understand their learning profiles, build resilience, and develop the confidence to navigate challenges in school and beyond.

Your impact reaches far beyond intervention time—you help unlock opportunity, reshape student trajectories, and contribute to a culture where every learner is seen, supported, and set up for success.

• Engage in intentional, research-based planning to deliver structured, explicit, multisensory literacy instruction aligned with TEA-approved dyslexia programs and the Texas Dyslexia Handbook.
• Develop intervention plans that align to Section 504 Service Plans or IEP goals, ensuring instructional materials meet state requirements and support diverse learners with dyslexia and related disorders.
• Collect, analyze, and use formal and informal progress-monitoring data (e.g., curriculum-based measures, district-approved tools) to update instructional plans and ensure growth for all students served.
• Anticipate potential misconceptions related to phonological awareness, decoding, encoding, and language structure, ensuring lessons connect to students’ background knowledge and home experiences.
