Social Studies Coordinator

Terms of employment: 12 months/ 226 days per year. Salary is at Administrative Program AP5 on the EISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable. Annual salary range is $74,750 $ 88,988 based upon directly related experience. This position is federally funded therefore, continuation for the position is contingent upon available grant funds.

Provides leadership in the design and development of a curricular framework for secondary mathematics aligned with the Texas College and Career-Ready Standards. This position is responsible for the effective implementation of the district curriculum and strategic plan goals. The Coordinator will provide instructional leadership and direct coaching support to Social Studies Instructional Coaches and will focus on enhancing teachers' ability to provide instruction that builds students' sense of engagement in the ownership of learning.

The Coordinator will also work with administrators, directors, instructional coaches, and teachers to collect and analyze data, interpret, and use it to guide instructional decisions. The Coordinator will provide professional development and guidance to coaches to deepen their content knowledge and pedagogical practices on literacy across the content areas. Overall, the job of the Coordinator is to build the capacity of the coaches to meet the academic needs of all students.

The goal is to ensure that coaches acquire the understanding and skills to
1) enhance instructional practices at the classroom level and
2) raise the level of student achievement. This position actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to educate, enhance and recognize exemplary practices that support the district goal of achieving excellence.

Education/Certification

• Master's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
• Valid Texas teacher certification
