Salary: $23.00 - $38.00 per hour
We are looking for a Generator Field Service Technician in the San Antonio area. If you are mechanically inclined, a problem solver, and someone people go to when they need something fixed, this may be the gig for you. No experience in power generation is required; we offer training for someone with a good understanding of how things work. You will work with combustion engines—Diesel, Natural Gas, or Propane— and electrical systems including 120/240 V single‑phase, 277/480 V three‑phase, and 12 V–24 V DC controls.
A laptop will be used to interface with controls software.
Each day you’ll start by opening your tablet/laptop to review your schedule. After leaving the company‑supplied service truck, you will travel to your first job site. You may perform routine planned maintenance inspections, engine servicing (oil and filter changes), quoted service repairs, emergency trouble calls, or commissioning/start‑ups of newly installed generators. After completing each task, you will finalize paperwork electronically and sync updates via a mobile technician application.
Travel to the office is only required for parts or supplies.
- Provide customer service above and beyond the customer’s expectations
- Troubleshoot and diagnose engine and electrical repairs on power generation equipment (engine‑driven generators and automatic transfer switches)
- Perform work on power generation equipment located at customer sites, or occasional work at our local shop
- Use safe practices with operation of service truck
- Perform preventive maintenance on power generation equipment
- Perform start‑ups on new power generation equipment
- Perform warranty work on power generation equipment
- Process required paperwork and electronic submissions within deadlines
- Maintain parts inventory of service truck
- Participate in the rotating responsibility of a 24/7 on‑call technician rotation
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Experience: 2 years of experience with diesel and/or natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches.
Requirements- Valid driver’s license
- Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Motivated to participate in training to increase generator knowledge
- Common hand tools and electrical meter required to perform troubleshooting, repair and maintenance
- Self‑motivated

- Knowledge of electrical systems
- Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics

This position will involve working primarily outdoors, traveling to numerous customer locations with occasional work in the shop. Employees will encounter varying weather conditions and temperatures. The role requires frequent work around electricity and other potential hazards. Appropriate safety equipment and practices are required. The employee must possess the ability to lift 50 pounds.
