Field/Service Technician
We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our team specializing in engine repairs for our Distribution Business in San Antonio, TX.
$5000 Sign on Bonus! for external candidates
Key Responsibilities- Complete troubleshooting, repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance on engine products and other customer equipment in a service shop
- Perform preventative maintenance based on engine assessment, utilizing diagnostic computers and software
- Apply documented procedures and policies to execute complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools
- Document all work, including work logs, time sheets, warranty claims, and quality reports through both handwritten forms and business system input screens
- Participate in ongoing training and acquire additional certifications on new and existing Cummins products
- Adhere to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures, reporting any incidents to the supervisor
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers, developing clear, audience‑appropriate messages
- Demonstrate competency in diagnostics, electrical, mechanical, and electronic service tool applications to isolate and repair issues efficiently
- Verify repairs by replicating customer complaints and document results within business systems for payment and historical tracking
- Escalate technical issues to higher‑level experts when necessary, capturing all troubleshooting steps in the appropriate database
- Show respect for diverse perspectives and values differences within the workplace
- Preferred:
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician;
Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution - Preferred:
Valid local driving permit; CDL is preferred; candidates must be willing to obtain one upon completion of the hiring process - Compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations may require additional licensing
- Minimal workshop experience required; basic knowledge of engine products is essential
- A current valid driver’s license is required for this role
- Must be at least 18 years old with 2 years of driving experience
- Requires a 5‑year motor vehicle report free of major violations
- Subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre‑employment drug testing requirements and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing
- Relocation package available
- Position requires 100% on‑site presence
