We are currently seeking a Cisco Voice Lead for our office in San Antonio, TX.
5+ to 7 years experience
Job SummaryThe Cisco Voice Lead will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering telecom systems and subsystems including all operational telecom activities and issues. This position reports to the Enterprise Network Manager.
Other Responsibilities- Participate in design, development, and deployment of appropriate network solutions as requested.
- Maintain the high availability and performance of distributed telephony systems.
- Evaluate, configure, and implement new software and services to aid in the management of the telecommunications system.
- Proactively monitor to ensure that the entrusted systems operate optimally.
- Manage all telephony assets, including hardware, software, and associated vendors.
- Work closely with Systems and Application support teams on business projects, assignments, and problems.
- Assist in the creation of guidelines, policies, and procedures related to ensuring efficient and reliable operations of the entrusted systems.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of networking technologies and operations, concepts, tools, and techniques.
- Provide technical leadership to junior staff in the absence of the Enterprise Network Manager.
- Establish effective and collaborative working relationships across internal and external organizations to assist with requirements, effectively leverage existing network design, and ensure timely network alignment with future technology needs.
- Multi-task; prioritizes team workload; and work effectively under pressure.
- Take ownership of problems and demonstrate methodical follow-through to an appropriate conclusion.
- Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and decision‑making skills.
- Influence and motivate resources outside of your own team.
- Create and maintain clear and accurate documentation.
- Ensure processes and procedures conform to approved standards.
- Provide regular and ad‑hoc reports of telephony activities as requested.
- Provide rapid troubleshooting and repair of telephony related issues.
- Remain familiar with relevant, current, and future technologies and trends.
- Provide escalation for supported technologies.
- Follow change control processes that adhere to ITIL and enterprise standards.
- 5 years related experience
- 5+ years of hands‑on voice/video design experience.
- 5+ years of experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco gateways, Cisco ATAs, Cisco Teleconference devices, Cisco messaging.
- 5+ years of experience documenting network environments for support by other technical teams.
- 5+ years of experience working within a datacenter environment hosting highly available telephony systems.
- Extensive knowledge of PSTN technologies, TDM protocols, E911, and IP Voice technologies.
- Experience in the following routing protocols: MPLS, EIGRP, BGP/MPLS IPSEC‑VPN, SSL‑VPN.
- Strong knowledge of application protocols and their behaviors across LAN/WAN infrastructures including: DHCP, DNS, SSH, HTTP, SSL, FTP, RPC, SNMP.
- Experience with network‑based security protocols and methods - IPSec, SSL, TLS, ACLs.
- Working knowledge of network management solutions (Solar Winds Orion, Cisco LMS, Cisco NCS, Nagios, or similar).
- Extensive knowledge of various software products used in an IP telephony environment for troubleshooting, debugging, simulation, sniffing, data collection and reporting.
- Extensive experience evaluating, configuring, and troubleshooting a variety of Cisco Voice/Video devices with a solid understanding of associated vendor hardware architecture and characteristics.
- Experience with structured cabling (CAT5/6, Patch Panels, Punch‑downs).
- Proficiency in Excel and Visio.
- Proficiency with other Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, Unix, etc.).
- Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related engineering discipline is desired
- Experience AND Certification may be considered
