Position: MEP Project Manager - Data Center
The MEP Project Manager oversees the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for construction projects, ensuring the timely installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of these systems within budget and schedule. This role involves coordinating with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
With extensive knowledge of MEP systems, building codes, and regulations, the MEP Project Manager leads a team of engineers and subcontractors, manages project risks, resolves technical issues, and ensures successful project delivery. The role demands strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with a focus on delivering projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
Key Responsibilities Project Planning and Coordination- Lead the planning and coordination of all MEP systems installation and integration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and contracts to fully understand MEP requirements and project goals.
- Develop and manage the MEP portion of the project schedule, ensuring the timely completion of all tasks and deliverables.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other construction managers to ensure seamless integration and overall project design.
- Oversee the procurement and delivery of materials and equipment for MEP systems, ensuring timely availability.
- Manage subcontractors to ensure cost‑effective and efficient execution within the project timeline.
- Supervise MEP teams, subcontractors, and field staff, providing leadership and guidance to ensure high‑standard work in accordance with specifications.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide guidance to maintain project momentum.
- Foster a collaborative work environment and effective communication among all stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop MEP engineers, field staff, and subcontractors.
- Conduct regular team meetings, provide feedback, and resolve conflicts.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality requirements, and company policies.
- Develop, monitor, and control MEP project budgets.
- Track labor, material, and equipment costs related to the MEP systems.
- Prepare cost estimates and manage change orders.
- Ensure MEP systems are installed according to specifications, codes, and industry standards.
- Conduct regular inspections to verify work meets quality standards.
- Manage testing and commissioning of MEP systems.
- Address and resolve any non‑compliance issues or delays.
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain compliance with OSHA and other regulations.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and toolbox talks.
- Monitor installations and commissioning for safe operations.
- Ensure team training on safety protocols and PPE.
- Investigate accidents or incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
- Promote a culture of safety and proactive hazard reporting.
- Ensure all MEP work aligns with company safety standards.
- Serve as the main point of contact for MEP‑related issues with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver regular project updates and reports.
- Participate in project meetings and provide input on design, scheduling, and implementation.
- Proactively identify and assess risks, develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor progress and adjust plans to keep the project on track.
- Collaborate with the team to resolve technical issues and design discrepancies.
- Resolve technical and logistical challenges innovatively.
- Manage scope changes related to MEP systems.
- Implement corrective actions for delays or issues.
- Provide troubleshooting support to the MEP team and subcontractors.
