We are seeking a highly motivated Field Service Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced radiation detection and nuclear measurement systems. This role requires a self-driven technical professional who can work independently in customer environments while delivering exceptional service and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, calibrate, and test sophisticated radiation detection and monitoring equipment at customer sites.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and integrated system issues to ensure optimal system performance.
- Partner with engineering and technical support teams to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct customer training and provide operational guidance on equipment and software applications.
- Maintain accurate documentation of service activities, maintenance records, repairs, and field reports.
- Deliver professional and responsive customer service during on-site visits and remote support interactions.
- Assist with internal troubleshooting, testing, and repair activities when required.
- Provide technical support remotely via phone, email, and other communication platforms.
- Adhere to all company safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong technical aptitude with experience or education in electronics, mechanical systems, nuclear technology, physics, or related scientific disciplines.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with proficiency in computer systems and technical reporting.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to safely lift and transport equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Willingness to travel regionally up to 70% of the time.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with radiation detection instrumentation and spectroscopy systems.
- Familiarity with gamma spectroscopy, alpha/beta counting systems, and radiation monitoring technologies.
- Understanding of nuclear physics principles and radiation detection methodologies.
- Experience with technical software applications, databases, reporting tools, or data management systems.
- Knowledge of SQL databases and reporting platforms is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair systems at the component or modular level.
- Prior military nuclear power program experience is highly preferred.
Education & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Equivalent technical certifications, military training, or hands-on industry experience will also be considered.
- 1–3 years of experience in technical field service, equipment maintenance, or customer support roles preferred.
- Proven customer service experience supporting technical equipment or systems.
