About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated MEP Systems Manager to join a major construction project in San Antonio, TX. This role is critical to the successful planning, coordination, installation, commissioning, and turnover of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems for a large, complex facility.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate across project teams to ensure quality, schedule, and safety objectives are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all MEP system activities from preconstruction through commissioning and project closeout
- Coordinate with project management, design consultants, subcontractors, and field teams to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems
- Review construction documents, shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and system designs for constructability and compliance
- Monitor installation progress and ensure work meets project specifications, quality standards, and code requirements
- Oversee MEP scheduling, sequencing, and coordination with other trades
- Support procurement efforts for major MEP equipment and long-lead items
- Participate in BIM/VDC coordination meetings and clash detection resolution
- Manage commissioning activities, testing procedures, and system turnover documentation
- Identify and proactively resolve technical and field-related issues
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company safety standards
- Provide leadership and mentorship to field engineers and MEP coordinators
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- 7+ years of experience managing MEP systems on large commercial, healthcare, industrial, mission critical, or institutional construction projects
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems
- Experience with commissioning and startup processes
- Proficiency in construction management software and BIM coordination tools
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on projects valued at $100M+
- LEED accreditation or equivalent sustainability experience
- OSHA 30 certification
- Previous experience working with large general contractors or EPC firms
