Job Description The Critical Facility Technician monitors and maintains all building systems and mission critical facilities equipment and other equipment associated with the raised floor environment. Responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of HVAC equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues.
Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. *
* Eight (8) - ten (10) years of experience supporting mission critical environments with a high school diploma or GED
* Current electrical/mechanical Journeyman's license preferred.
* Hands on electrical or mechanical skill, and competence in the area of non-expertise (for example, electrical expertise with a mechanical competence, or vice-versa)
* Operate and perform both routine and emergency service on a variety of state-of-the-art critical systems.
* Mechanical and/or electrical OEM factory specific training or experience preferred.
* Knowledge and experience using basic computer applications.
* Have an active or be able to obtain a US Government Clearance and Polygraph
* Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
* PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at times; frequently use hands to handle or feel; frequently reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. Standing and walking is required 90% of the time. Must be able to turn and twist torso and frequently climb and descend ladders and stairs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
