Position: Construction Mechanical Engineer (PE Licensed Senior Mechanical Engineer - MEP Design)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead our MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) design team. This role is critical to the successful delivery of energy-efficient and sustainable HVAC and plumbing solutions across projects in the municipal/aviation, education, healthcare, and commercial office sectors. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will serve as both a technical subject matter expert and a team mentor, managing the full project lifecycle and supporting the growth of our client's organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record for mechanical and plumbing disciplines on assigned projects.
  • Provide technical and managerial leadership to the MEP design team from project initiation through completion.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, schedules, and staffing plans to ensure on-time, within-budget, high-quality project delivery.
  • Lead the design, development, and verification of HVAC and plumbing systems, including performing and reviewing load calculations.
  • Oversee Construction Administration (CA) activities: review submittals and shop drawings, respond to RFIs, attend and lead CA meetings, and perform field observations/site visits.
  • Plan and execute detailed project phases, ensuring all work meets quality standards and client expectations.
  • Lead design and construction meetings with stakeholders, providing clear guidance and ensuring effective decision-making.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members; assign and review design tasks as needed; provide objective, periodic feedback to support career development and annual reviews.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts and fee proposals; monitor contract compliance throughout the project.
  • Foster relationships with clients in collaboration with business development teams to support repeat and new business opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Ability to obtain PE licensure in Texas if not already held.
  • 10+ years of MEP design experience, including work in municipal/aviation, education, healthcare, and commercial office environments.
  • 7+ years of experience managing MEP design projects.
  • At least 3 years of direct project management experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience leading an MEP design team.
  • Valid Texas driver's license, clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and ability to successfully pass a background check (criminal, education, and drug screening).
