Mechanical/Technical Support
Provide mechanical/technical support for back deck & handling equipment and interface with the vessel systems with a focus on second line vessel support, sales and marketing tender process, equipment design, rigging of projects along with following up third line support issues.
Main Activities / Responsibilities- Provide second line technical support and expertise to the field crews.
- Ensure that back deck machinery and handling equipment is maintained, equipped, and installed in accordance with industry standard specifications and Class society rules, including technical and operational documentation and procedures.
- In conjunction with the Offshore mechanical team, organize equipment maintenance scheduling, repairs to machinery and equipment utilizing appropriate contractors to perform tasks on and off the vessel.
- Be aware of and understand technical downtime and operational field downtime and assist in implement remedial action plans to improve the downtime performance.
- Provide a supporting role on technical issues for sales teams during tender reviews.
- Provide input on technical instructions, procedures, and Task Risk Assessments (TRA’s) for the offshore mechanical department and ensure the use of and dissemination of good practice across the crews.
- Under the direction of the department head, take responsibility for supplier contracts and purchases with preferred vendors and 3rd party contractors, including pre-qualification, approval, and management of the relationships until closure.
- Act as the main interface between engineering and manufacturing, during equipment testing and implementation of new equipment.
- Provide backup and support for the department head.
- Active participation in engineering projects and field testing of new equipment.
- Manage and/or participate in rigging activities, yard stays, upgrades, and other vessel related projects.
- Assisting in support functions in the office.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred or relevant work experience
- Mechanical technician (associates or certificate USA), or equivalent in a related field.
- Plant or Machinery maintenance qualification.
- Knowledge of the marine seismic industry.
- Experience in the Marine offshore seismic industry or similar (Construction/ROV vessel).
- Willing and able to work long hours at irregular intervals.
- Must pass an offshore medical and basic offshore survival course.
