Black & Veatch seeks a Water Resources professional focused on stormwater planning and design, asset management, water quality, integrated planning, and related services.
Key Responsibilities- Lead business development through the identification and capture of stormwater and related services.
- Plan and/or design stormwater improvements, including open channels, storm or combined sewer systems, and stormwater detention/retention facilities.
- Plan and/or design green infrastructure and sustainable watershed measures, including structural BMPs.
- Plan and/or design coastal applications.
- Plan and/or design flood‑mitigation improvements, including dams, levees, reservoirs, and pump stations.
- Plan and/or design erosion and sediment control, including SWPPP development.
- Drive regulatory compliance and permitting efforts for USACE, FEMA, and other environmental permitting agencies.
- Conduct scenario planning for CSO, SSO, stormwater, and TMDL compliance projects.
- Apply sophisticated collection system, watershed, and receiving‑stream hydraulic and water‑quality models.
- Plan for supply diversification and collection/distribution system expansions and rehabilitation.
- Build client relationships throughout the target geography to drive business growth.
- Lead execution of the above services and act as Project Manager.
- Interface with innovative partners to leverage new technologies for client benefit.
- 15+ years of water resources planning and design experience.
- Experience developing and executing planning and water resource projects.
- Proficiency with one or more of the following applications and models:
- HEC‑RAS
- HEC‑HMS
- EPA/PC/XP‑SWMM
- Storm Wise (formerly ICPR)
- Info Works
- EFDC
- CFD
- ArcGIS
- Cityworks, Lucity, or other asset‑management/CMMS systems.
- Experience with regulatory requirements and procedures.
- Client‑facing and business development experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
- Minimum of 11 years related work experience.
- Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle record search).
- Active engineering registration or licensure to support Engineer of Record (EOR) requirements.
- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, performance, and work assignments. Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may require navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
